The Trust is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join the Bath and NE Somerset OA CMHT, which provides comprehensive mental health services to older adults across two sites: Bath NHS House and the Hollies in Midsomer Norton.
The role is a newly created post working alongside a part‑time consultant at the Hollies. The team provides specialised secondary care to people over 65 with complex mental health issues, including depression, psychosis, and dementia with behavioural or psychological symptoms.
Main Duties of the Job
• Deliver direct interventions to service users at an intensity level suited to their needs, including those who require an assertive approach and are difficult to engage. This includes ongoing assessment, diagnosis (including review and clarification), and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
* Provide advice to members of the Multi‑Disciplinary Teams.
* Attend weekly Team MDT meetings.
* Assess and treat outpatients in clinics or home visits.
* Hold CPA meetings for outpatients where appropriate.
* Visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
* Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs, and non‑NHS organisations where applicable.
* Liaise with Intensive and Inpatient services to facilitate smooth handover of clients between services.
* Provide medical support to the other part of the OA CMHT service in the absence of their consultant.
* Prepare Mental Health Act Tribunal reports and participate in Tribunal meetings for Community Treatment Order patients.
* Provide medical and AC responsibility for patients from designated GP practices.
* Actively participate in team and personal caseload management and supervision.
Eligibility
Essential
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Desirable
* CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
