The Commercial Disputes Group is busy and growing in Scotland. We are looking for a Corporate Crime and Disputes Senior Associate or Of Counsel with an enthusiasm for the law, excellent communication skills and experience in advising primarily corporate clients on financial crime matters such as bribery, money-laundering and fraud, internal investigations and compliance controls. About the Role The team are known for being highly commercial in their advice and offer the prospect of working closely with key clients. You are also strongly encouraged to get involved with business development initiatives in Scotland and London. The team advises on a wide variety of international and national disputes, across all the sectors that the Firm works. The work we do for our clients is often high profile and at the cutting edge of dispute resolution. Whilst you will be a key member of our Scottish team you will also work on matters from across our UK and international network. You will work on corporate investigations (both internal investigations and investigations by external authorities), criminal defence and advice on discrete legal issues. You will assist clients with implementing compliance controls. Where appropriate, you will support the wider disputes team on matters connected with fraud, including asset-recovery matters. You will also on occasion support other practice areas where criminal matters arise. The role will also include an important business development aspect, as part of the firm's wider Risk and Investigations Group, including taking active part in group marketing and training initiatives. Your responsibilities will include: Using technical expertise to deliver sound advice to clients on complex issues and support for clients in criminal or regulatory investigations and proceedings Providing efficient professional support for partners Developing professional relationships with clients and colleagues across the firm Supporting the wider team in developing business and raising profile Contributing and building know-how Contributing to learned articles for publication Achieving target utilisation rates for fee earning time Ensuring daily closure of time entries Managing/supervising the work of others including junior lawyers and trainees, and lawyers in other teams Ensuring key financial elements including billing management About You Qualifications & Experience We are currently recruiting at Senior/Of Counsel level CPE/PGDL Appropriate level of post qualification experience in relevant professional area Deep experience in corporate / financial crime and ancillary matters Experience of conducting investigations Excellent professional track record in comparable firm Skills & Knowledge Excellent analytical skills Sound judgement Excellent drafting skills Ability to translate legal theory into practical advice We work collaboratively within a team environment and support not only the development of the practice but also the team's culture and values.
