About The Role
Rail Delivery Group is looking for 2 Senior Project Managers on a fixed-term contract (FTC), with retail / digital ticketing / customer propositions experience and an in-depth understanding of the current rail ticketing landscape and challenges. The successful candidate will be delivering the implementation of the Railcard Validation service.
We believe that the art of project management is about the balance between driving delivery and being an inspiring leader who forges strong working relationships. As a Senior Project Manager at RDG your role is to work across a range of teams and stakeholders to deliver multiple complex changes at a time. This will involve employing both project management tools and techniques and excellent people skills.
Key Responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list, however key responsibilities include:
* Planning what work needs to be done, when and who's going to do it;
* Looking at the risks involved in a particular project and managing these risks;
* Motivating people involved in the project;
* Co-ordinating work done by different people, with responsibility for the work to be done to the agreed standard;
* Responsible for the project running on time and to budget;
* Dealing with changes to the project as and when necessary;
* Driving the project to deliver the expected outcomes and benefits; and
* Working to the RDG Project Delivery Framework and ensuring that other do too
Requirements
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience of working as a senior project manager or similar, demonstrating a strong aptitude for the role, relevant experience and right attitude as well as solid delivery skills.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Some of the specific skills and knowledge we are looking for include:
* Subject matter expertise in retail / digital ticketing / customer propositions;
* Experience of work on technology / software implementations;
* Managing project scope and changes;
* Preparing estimates and a detailed project plan for all phases of the project;
* Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes;
* Managing project budgets and cost control experience;
* Managing risk, understanding the risk context and demonstrating a range of risk techniques;
* Experience in dealing with and managing external resource, including third party contracts and procurement;
* Managing ongoing quality control and participating in quality issue resolution;
* Managing all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure an overall programme is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives;
* Understanding interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs;
* Highly experienced in planning, reporting and stakeholder management; and
* Extensive understanding of project and programme management principles, methods and processes
