Overview
Arcus Consulting, now part of Baily Garner LLP, is an award‑winning multi‑disciplinary building consultancy practice with offices across the UK. We are looking to recruit a Graduate Building Surveyor to join our Liverpool based team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including existing housing stock, decarbonisation investment programmes, demolition of high‑rise buildings, and new house builds. The successful candidate will develop themselves in a supportive Building Surveying team and achieve professional status (RICS).
Key Responsibilities
* Assist / undertake building and site surveys.
* Compile condition survey reports.
* Produce AutoCAD drawings, both existing and proposed layouts.
* Prepare schedules of works, specifications and detailed design drawings.
* Assist with or prepare documentation for tendering.
* Prepare regular project reports with updates on cost, programme, quality and health and safety.
* Manage delivery / progress of construction works including contract administration, chairing meetings and minute preparation.
* Liaise with senior colleagues to ensure technical deliverables are achieved on time, to the client requirements and within budget.
* Assist with Health and Safety matters including CDM duties, risk assessments and related tasks.
* Conduct building pathology, including diagnosing defects, identifying deleterious materials and associated remedial works.
* Apply awareness of decarbonisation issues, sustainable design and green technologies.
* Prepare and submit planning and building control applications.
* Manage and update project documents in accordance with Arcus QA procedures.
Qualifications
* A relevant degree in Building Surveying.
* A valid driving licence, car and willingness to travel.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
* A positive, collaborative attitude and commitment to professional standards.
* Aspiration to achieve RICS status and further development.
* Good knowledge of construction and design processes.
* Motivation to develop technical and management skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and team interaction.
* Ability to analyse problems and propose solutions using technical knowledge.
* A team player who builds strong professional relationships.
* Competence in Microsoft Office.
* Basic drawing ability and understanding.
* Commercial awareness and ability to manage time and prioritise tasks.
