Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding Occupational Therapy role? Have you ever thought about working within a prison environment? If so, then we might have just the job for you.
Prisons are some of the most challenging yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals. If you're seeking a role where you can develop your skills and learn something new every day, this is the place to be.
HMP Parc is a Category B men's prison holding both sentenced and remanded prisoners. With an operational capacity of around 2000 and a dedicated wing for older and disabled prisoners, it is one of the largest and most modern prisons in the UK. The prison is located at Junction 36 of the M4, just 5 minutes from Bridgend city centre and 20 minutes from Cardiff and Swansea.
The role offers a unique experience, requiring a diverse Occupational Therapy background. You will assess, plan, and deliver social care needs to complex patients with a wide range of physical and mental health needs.
You will be a key member of a Social Care team, including Social Workers and care staff. As an Occupational Therapist, you will be involved in all aspects of care planning for your clients. Effective communication, team working skills, and excellent record-keeping are essential.
If interested, please contact Chris Denharder, Occupational Therapy Manager, or Charlotte Pickin, Social Work Service Manager. Visits to the prison and chats with the current post-holder can be arranged.
You must be committed to the council's equality duties and adhere to Welsh language standards, participating in the active offer. Adherence to All Wales Safeguarding procedures is fundamental.
We offer a supportive environment, regular supervision, training, and development opportunities. The ability to greet customers in Welsh is required.
Protecting children, young people, or adults at risk is a core responsibility. An Enhanced DBS check and a vetting check by South Wales Police are required.
The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies, allowing flexible working hours between home and the office.
