About the role
We’re looking for a dynamic Art Teacher with strong Photography experience to inspire students across KS3–KS5. You’ll deliver engaging lessons in Fine Art and Photography (digital and/or darkroom), nurture creative confidence, and contribute to a thriving visual arts culture through exhibitions, competitions, and community projects.
Key responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality, sequenced lessons in Art and Photography that stretch all learners (KS3–KS4; KS5 desirable).
* Teach digital photography workflows (DSLR/mirrorless, composition, lighting) and post-production (Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom; Bridge/Camera Raw).
* Model effective assessment for learning, provide timely feedback, and track progress against departmental and exam-board criteria (e.g., GCSE/A-level).
* Curate displays and exhibitions; lead enrichment such as photography club, portfolio workshops, and gallery visits.
* Contribute to curriculum development, resources, and standardisation/moderation.
* Maintain excellent safeguarding, H&S, and equipment/consumables management; coordinate bookings and kit loans.
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers and colleagues; uphold school values and behaviour expectations.
About you
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it; ECTs welcome.
* Degree in a relevant field (Fine Art, Photography, Visual Communication or similar).
* Demonstrable photography expertise: camera operation, studio/natural light, editing workflow; darkroom skills advantageous.
* Proven ability to raise attainment, differentiate effectively, and engage diverse learners.
* Confident with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop/Lightroom; Illustrator/Premiere a plus).
* Organised, collaborative, reflective; high expectations for students and yourself.
