SuppoRTT Champion role:
The ‘SuppoRTT Champion’ role is designed to offer support and guidance to doctors in training and their supervisors and educators. The postholder will work collaboratively with NHSE Midlands to facilitate the management of SuppoRTT with the aim of providing a high quality, caring, and supportive approach to doctors returning to training in all specialties. The Champion will, through ongoing support and advocacy of those involved, help to effect a change in workplace culture such that the SuppoRTT programme becomes fully ingrained.
LTFT Champion role:
This is a strategic role to promote and support flexible postgraduate medical education training across the Trust. The Champion will guide and advise, support innovation in training models and working with key stakeholders to promote and support working and training flexibly at the Trust.
Main duties of the job

·Provide leadership within the locality to ensure that the SuppoRTT strategy is fully implemented and results in a high-quality supported return to training for all concerned; oversee supervision of all returning doctors in training and encourage good communication between trainee returner and educational supervisor/TPD.
LTFT Champion role:
·Provide leadership within the Trust to ensure that the requirements of the Resident Doctor Contract are fully implemented and results in high quality support for flexible training.
·Provide guidance and be a visible point of contact for trainees who are training flexibly or considering training flexibly.
·Signpost to the relevant departments, colleagues or information within the Trust to provide support to those who are or wish to work and train more flexibly.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
SuppoRTT Champion role:
·Provide leadership within the locality to ensure that the SuppoRTT strategy is fully implemented and results in a high-quality supported return to training for all concerned; oversee supervision of all returning doctors in training and encourage good communication between trainee returner and educational supervisor/TPD.
·To communicate the SuppoRTT strategy and resources to; Doctors in Training, TPDs, College Tutors, Educational Supervisors and Clinical Supervisors, and relevant non-clinical colleagues, postgraduate education teams, medical staffing etc.
·Facilitate refresher sessions to, and ensure wellbeing of, doctors in training.
·Facilitate and support the upskilling of educational supervisors to ensure the SuppoRTT process is reliably implemented and provide ongoing support and guidance for locality educational supervisors and TPDs.
·Liaise with employer HR and Medical Staffing departments to ensure that doctors in training who are entitled and/or may require a supernumerary period are accommodated by their employing Trust (further supported by the NHSE EM SuppoRTT team).
·Although predominantly a leadership role, to be willing to take a ‘hands-on’ approach to facilitate SRTT when needed, such as meeting up with a trainee, referral to Occupational Health or obtaining assistance from NHSE East Midlands Professional Support Unit.
·To liaise with the doctors in training’ Educational and named Clinical Supervisors and the employer to facilitate good SuppoRTT practice, as per Academy of Medical Royal College (AoMRC) guidance.
·Make sure that available SuppoRTT resources are accessible and signposted to and identify where additional resources may be required.
12. Work with stakeholders, including NHSE, to further develop the SuppoRTT programme to ensure smooth transitions back into training for trainees.
·Work with SuppoRTT Associate Dean and Network to maintain the SuppoRTT database, including all relevant trainee returners and support implementation and evaluation of the SuppoRTT strategy including against agreed quality indicators.
LTFT Champion role:
·Provide leadership within the Trust to ensure that the requirements of the Resident Doctor Contract are fully implemented and results in high quality support for flexible training.
·Provide guidance and be a visible point of contact for trainees who are training flexibly or considering training flexibly.
·Signpost to the relevant departments, colleagues or information within the Trust to provide support to those who are or wish to work and train more flexibly.
·Work with Medical Workforce colleagues and Medical Education colleagues to ensure the accuracy of Less Than Full Time trainee information.
·Communicating with and supporting flexible trainees.
·Acting as an advocate for flexible trainees.
·Help develop innovative approaches to training for those wishing to work more flexibly, such as ensuring access to mentorship and specially developed training inputs.
·Advise and guide trainees to ensure that the delivery of medical education and training for flexible trainees meets the standards of regulatory bodies.
·Work with the stakeholders (including the Resident Doctors’ Forum, Guardian of Safe Working Hours, Medical Workforce, NHS England) to ensure a consistent approach to training flexibly is adopted across the Trust.

Essential criteria
13. Primary clinical healthcare qualification
14. Membership/Fellowship of a College Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body
15. Substantive post within target locality/school
16. GMC full registration

Essential criteria
18. Medical practitioner with postgraduate qualifications and with up-to-date revalidation
19. Consultant or equivalent contract with the Trust
20. In possession of a current personal learning plan/PPD/portfolio for revalidation
