Want to make a difference and help water conveyance within Thames area’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM)? Predominantly working across Thames and parts of Hertfordshire and North London, MEICA Engineers provide vital, in‑house maintenance and repairs on equipment ranging from 1940’s pumps and navigable locks up to the latest PLC‑controlled systems. You will travel across the region (work vehicle provided) conducting routine maintenance, reactive maintenance, attending breakdowns and carrying out small projects such as gearbox and drive system replacements.
Responsibilities
 * Conduct routine and reactive maintenance of mechanical equipment.
 * Respond to incidents as part of a 6‑week rotating incident response schedule.
 * Travel to sites within 60 minutes of base depot to meet urgent business needs.
 * Operate personal electronic devices to record maintenance activities, faults and repairs.
 * Use ladders and stairwells safely to access assemblies or platforms.
Experience and Skills Required
 * NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
 * Ability to work independently in a small, dispersed team.
 * Effective, timely engineering decision‑making and repair skills.
 * Confidence working in all weather conditions and urban and rural environments.
 * Valid UK manual driving licence.
 * Experience of hydraulic and mechanical drive systems (helpful).
 * Nationally recognised welding qualification (helpful).
 * Awareness of electronic control systems (helpful).
