We are seeking a 2x Cloud Platform Engineers to support our IT department on a 12 month contract.
As a Cloud Platform Engineer you will provide the technical ability for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud computing infrastructure. The key responsibilities include deploying, scaling, and securing cloud-based applications and services.
While primarily a project delivery role, other aspects of the role will be to maintain and monitor existing solutions and infrastructure: identifying improvements in efficiency and security to these solutions, as well as participating in incident management and service request fulfilment where required.
This role will be onboarded and payrolled via our agency provider Alexander Mann Solutions. Recruitment will be conducted via the NWS Talent Acquisition team but once the successful candidate has been identified, the agency provider will be in touch to commence onboarding and agree next steps. There are two payroll options via our agency provider which is PAYE (Pay as you Earn) or Umbrella Company.
Scope:
* Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions, ensuring optimal performance, scalability and security.
* Assist in the design and validation of architectural designs and documentation.
* Ensure security and capacity of cloud data storage solutions and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
* Analyse and resolve infrastructure and security vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
* Regularly review existing solutions and make recommendations for improvements, considering new technologies and improvements in current cloud offerings.
* Understand Entra ID and leverage this technology to enhance security of our platforms using groups, roles, conditional access and PIM, etc.
* Configuration and management of Azure monitoring and reporting, with keen attention and response to the service management aspects using azure monitor and sentinel.
* Utilising Azure DevOps for automation and deployment of resources into Azure, utilising repositories, pipelines and IAC/ARM.
* Provide 2nd/3rd Line support for the Azure workloads.
* Configure and support data platform technologies such as SQL server and Data Warehouse.
* Working with the architecture function to support the exploration of new technologies and solutions in the form of PoC within a dedicated development environment.
* Develop & maintain environment including low level and high-level designs and service documentation.
* Security Incident Management in conjunction with our Global Security Operating Centre (GSOC).
* Working with GSOC and Infosec teams to respond to and resolve security incidents.
* Fully exploit the Azure Platform to explore all opportunities it can bring to increase business value.
* Management of company back up solution, including creation of policies and schedules to ensure effective and robust BCP and DR processes.
* Office 365 management including licensing, account management and security of the platform.
* Follow ITIL guidelines on change, incident/problem management and request fulfilment.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Hold Microsoft AZ-104 certification.
* Demonstratable experience in Cloud Operations (CloudOps).
* Experience in CI/CD pipelines, version control, and containerisation technologies

* Knowledge and experience of building pipelines, git, and operating systems
* Experience in Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) or equivalent public cloud IaC (Infrastructure as Code) technology.
* An understanding of scripting languages such as Powershell.
* Ability to work under pressure, e.g. effective and calm response during major time sensitive outage.
* Network Knowledge, required to configure and troubleshoot network components, familiarity with Subnets, firewalls, IP addressing, DNS.
* Understand encryption, and best practices for securing cloud resource.
* Comfortable working in an agile delivery framework.
* Able to work under your own initiative on large scale technical challenges.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders at all levels, as well as strong technical documentation skills.
