Lead Mechanical Engineer
Are you a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a passion for leading projects and developing engineering talent? Our client, an established and growing engineering business, is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their high-performing team.

This is a newly created role due to business expansion. You’ll have real autonomy to lead technically challenging projects, drive innovation, and play a key role in shaping the future of the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities of a Lead Mechanical Engineer:
* Lead the design and delivery of mechanical solutions across a variety of high-specification projects
* Take technical ownership from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client specifications
* Utilise your expertise in 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks) and engineering analysis (FEA, CFD or similar) to support innovative, robust design
* Manage and deliver complex engineering projects on time and within budget
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
* Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless project execution
Requirements of a Lead Mechanical Engineer:
* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) – ideally chartered but not essential
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Senior mechanical engineering and/or leadership role
* Strong background in delivering engineered solutions to regulated industries (e.g. aerospace, defence, medical, nuclear)
* Proficient in 3D CAD and analytical tools, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving
* Proven ability to manage teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive project delivery
* Excellent communication skills and ability to operate autonomously in a senior technical role
