Manufacturing Management Accountant
Salary: £40,000 per annum - DOE (Depending On Experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:15am-4:45pm, Friday 8:00am-2:00pm
Location: Barnsley
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business, recently supported by new ownership, who are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Management Accountant to strengthen their finance function during a period of growth.
This role would suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with production and operations within a hands-on manufacturing environment.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting production and manufacturing accounting activities
* Standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis
* Work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and revenue recognition
* Inventory control, stock valuation, and material usage reporting
* Month-end close, management accounts, and production cost reporting
* Budgeting, forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives
* Analysis of overhead absorption, labour efficiency, and machine utilisation
* Working closely with production, engineering, and operations teams
* Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards (UK GAAP); IFRS knowledge beneficial
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience
* Manufacturing or metals engineering background preferred (fabrication, machining, job shop)
* Strong understanding of production accounting and manufacturing finance
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment
* Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling
* Commercially minded with a strong attention to detail
* Confident communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
* Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
* Hands-on approach with a genuine interest in shop-floor processes
Structure & Progression
* Role reports into senior leadership at site or director level

Package & Benefits
* £33,000 to £40,000 basic salary
