About the Role

As an LSA, you’ll be at the heart of a community-focused school that prioritises inclusion, trust, and resilience. Your work will go beyond the classroom—helping young people build life skills, manage emotions, and develop a sense of belonging.

You will:

1. Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils, focusing on both academic progress and social development.
2. Encourage positive peer relationships and support community-building activities within the school.
3. Help implement behaviour strategies and pastoral care approaches tailored to each student’s needs.
4. Collaborate with teachers, youth workers, and external agencies to create a supportive network for each child.
5. Model positive communication, problem-solving, and resilience skills.
6. Support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and the ability to participate actively in school and community life.

What We’re Looking For

7. Degree in Criminology, Psychology, Youth & Community Work, or related fields (desirable but not essential).
8. Experience working or volunteering with young people, particularly in youth work, mentoring, or community projects.
9. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds.
10. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
11. A proactive approach to supporting students’ emotional and social needs.
12. Willingness to learn and take part in training (full support provided).

Why This Role Is Perfect for Aspiring Youth and Community Professionals

13. Gain hands-on experience in youth engagement, mentoring, and restorative practices.
14. Work within a school that sees education as part of a wider community support network.
15. Learn from experienced educators, pastoral staff, and youth workers.
16. Build a strong foundation for careers in probation services, youth justice, community outreach, and social work.
17. Develop practical skills in de-escalation, behaviour support, and trauma-informed practice.

Why Choose Milk Education?

18. Excellent pay rates.
19. Wellbeing and mental health support.
20. Ongoing professional development and free training opportunities.
21. 24/7 access to your personal consultant.
22. Commitment to sustainability and community impact.
