We are working with a number of schools across Shropshire that are seeking experienced Attendance & Welfare Officers to join their support staff teams. Opportunities are available within primary, secondary, and SEN schools for candidates who have strong administration skills and experience managing pupil attendance and welfare procedures within education settings.
Schools are looking for confident and professional individuals who can build positive relationships with families, maintain accurate attendance records, and support wider safeguarding responsibilities across school.
Role Responsibilities
Overseeing daily attendance processes and identifying absence patterns
Contacting parents/carers regarding pupil absence and punctuality concerns
Monitoring persistent absence and supporting attendance improvement strategies
Updating pupil records using ARBOR, SIMS, and BROMCOM
Preparing attendance reports and data analysis for senior leadership teams
Supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures linked to attendance
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN teams, pastoral staff, and external agencies
Managing confidential documentation and attendance-related communications
Assisting with front office and general administrative support when required
Candidate Profile
Previous experience within a school attendance or administration role is essential
Experience working within primary, secondary, or SEN schools is advantageous
Confident using ARBOR, SIMS, and/or BROMCOM
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage workload effectively in a busy school environment
Good attention to detail and data accuracy
Professional understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
Additional Information
These roles require candidates who can start confidently with minimal supervision
No training will be provided
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred
Candidates without an Enhanced DBS will be expected to obtain and fund their own check
All appointments are subject to safeguarding, DBS, and reference clearance
