Where will you be working? At M Group Energy were enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. What will you be doing? We're recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the South West region, with initial projects down in Cornwall/Devon. You will be required to attend our Substations sites atleast 2-3 days a week so a driving licence is required. If you have a passion for large-scale, complex infrastructure projects and have experience managing NEC4 contracts, then this could the role for you. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to take on a key role. You will be instrumental in ensuring the financial success of our contracts, working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to drive value and mitigate risk.

• Oversee all commercial aspects of multiple projects from inception to final account.
• Expertly manage and administer NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts (ECC), including Early Warnings,
• Compensation Events, and payment applications.
• Implement robust cost control measures, produce accurate CVRs, and provide detailed financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage the procurement and commercial administration of subcontractors, ensuring compliance and performance.
• Meticulously manage all contract variations and compensation events, negotiating and agreeing on fair and reasonable costs.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Potentially mentor and guide junior members of the commercial team.

What youll bring

• Substantial experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
• Essential: In-depth, practical knowledge and experience of managing contracts under the NEC4 suite.
• Strong commercial acumen and excellent negotiation skills.
• A proactive, solutions-driven attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

• Previous experience with Substations/ High Voltage Power
