Overview
You will promote social inclusion and offer opportunities for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental illness in a range of settings including a Respite/Short Break facility and community environments. The role involves supporting service users by increasing their social and independent living skills in a person‑centred way that promotes the principles of social inclusion.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and support for service users.
* Undertake all aspects of Moving and Handling manoeuvres, including the pushing and pulling of wheelchairs.
* Employ C.A.L.M. techniques where required.
* Promote personal independence, health and wellbeing, and access to local community opportunities.
* Work on an as‑required basis, covering days, evenings, weekends, sleep‑ins, wakened nights, public holidays, Christmas and New Year.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must have, or be willing to achieve within the first period of registration, Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6 (equivalent to SVQ2) or an equivalent qualification to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.
* Good communication, organisational and IT skills, and the ability to manage and prioritise workload with minimal supervision.
* Excellent team‑working skills and the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with service users, carers and colleagues.
* Physical ability to perform all required Moving and Handling training and interventions.
* Ready to undertake and complete all mandatory training such as Moving and Handling and C.A.L.M.
Working Pattern
36, 28, 21 or 18 hours per week, on an as‑required basis.
Contract and Salary
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: FC4 £26,786.83 – £29,170.80
