Role- Senior Mechanical Engineer
Salary- £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Type- Permanent
Location- Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a varied skillset to join their team in Borehamwood on a permanent basis.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
* 2 years or more experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering, Design or Applications Engineering position
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Knowledge of a variety of materials – sheet metal, machined parts etc.
* Confident speaking to customers and managing projects
* Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* The ability to understand system requirements
* Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
* Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will involve:
* Working on project specifications – creating CAD drawings and preparing cost estimates working off customer requirements
* Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Writing quotes and other technical details
* Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
* Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign off
* Speaking to customers over the phone and delivering proposals
* Helping to define project schedules
* Have a good appreciation for using hand tools and basic fabrication methods
* Working closely with other members of the engineering team
