Operational 6 days a week with early and late shifts, hrs pw. Flexibility is essential due to varied working arrangements and additional hours. Some days may have unpredictable finishing times, but a rota system is in place for planned time off.
About the Role:
As a PCO, you’ll work as part of a team to provide safe escorting and custody services to detainees, focusing on their wellbeing. Responsibilities include:
* Escorting defendants within court premises, including to the toilet, possibly handcuffed.
* Supervising detainees during court sessions to ensure security.
* Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism during sensitive court proceedings.
* Providing detainees with food and drink, considering dietary needs.
* Monitoring health and reporting concerns.
* Ensuring safety, responding to emergencies, and conducting searches.
* Completing paperwork and data entry accurately.
* Collaborating with court staff, law enforcement, and legal professionals.
What you need to do the job!
We value diverse experiences; what matters is your commitment to making a difference. You’ll receive comprehensive training during a 5.5-week course. A valid driver’s license, good communication skills, and a responsible attitude are essential. This role suits those interested in criminology or psychology.
Assessment Process:
Briefing call → Virtual competency interview → Role-play and written exercise.
Additional Information:
Roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All offers are subject to enhanced DBS checks and employment references. The role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Candidates must:
* Have at least two years remaining on their current visa.
* Have lived in the UK for at least one year.
