About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Repairs Manager to join a well-established contractor operating within the social housing sector across Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in reactive maintenance and team leadership to step into a key operational role.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day plumbing operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and managing a team of engineers working across occupied properties. The role requires a strong understanding of SOR (Schedule of Rates) codes and the ability to drive performance in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and support a team of plumbers and supervisors delivering reactive maintenance works
2. Oversee daily operations to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, on time, and to required standards
3. Monitor performance against KPIs, SLAs, and client expectations
4. Ensure accurate use and application of SOR codes for all works carried out
5. Liaise with clients, tenants, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain high satisfaction levels
6. Conduct regular audits, toolbox talks, and performance reviews
7. Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and workflow optimisation
8. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
Key Requirements
9. Proven experience in a Plumbing Manager or Supervisory role within social housing
10. Strong background in reactive maintenance environments
11. Essential experience working with SOR codes
12. Technical background in plumbing (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
13. Experience managing operatives and driving team performance
14. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
15. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
16. Full UK driving licence
