Job overview
We are looking to recruit a positive, compassionate, and self-motivated GP to join our friendly team at Creswell and Langwith Medical Centre on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to NHS funding and guidance. This opportunity is part of the PCN ARRS funding initiative and requires applicants to be newly qualified and new to practice (within 2 years).
The successful candidate will be primarily based at Creswell and Langwith Medical Centre. On occasion, you may be asked to work at other DCHS General Practice sites in exceptional circumstances. INTERNATIONAL GRADUATES MUST BE QUALIFIED AND BE ON THE GP SPECIALIST LIST AS WELL AS THE GMC REGISTER.
Main duties of the job
* Provide face-to-face and telephone consultations for routine and urgent care
* Provide clinical care to patients in line with the job plan and practice processes, including face-to-face and telephone triage
* Complete clinical administration promptly (medical reports, test results, referral letters, etc.)
* Cover weekly on-call duties and support the service during absences
* Fortnightly rotational cover of the extended access service (PCN DES requirement) on Tuesdays 18:30–20:00
* Make clear consultation notes using System One
* Ensure safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective care in line with disease management protocols and NICE guidelines
* Independently prescribe medications
* Review and manage patient medications following policies and local guidelines
* Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to deliver holistic, patient-centred care
* Actively participate in MDT meetings as required
* Take part in practice audits and educational/training events
* Lead on specific areas within the practice (e.g., QOF domains, quality standards, practice initiatives) as agreed with the clinical lead and/or practice manager
* Provide support and debrief for trainee registrars
* Maintain a flexible approach to meet service needs
Working for our organisation
The practice serves approximately 5,500 patients across Creswell, Langwith, and surrounding areas. We deliver community health services to a population of over one million in Derbyshire and Derby as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire. We employ around 4,200 substantive staff across 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes, and in patients’ homes and via virtual consultations. During the pandemic, we led public vaccination centre initiatives in collaboration with partners across health and social care.

Person specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* RCGP trained and accredited GP
* Current GMC registration (GP specialty registrar and GP performers list)
* Relevant postgraduate qualification such as teaching or healthcare leadership
Experience and Knowledge Required
* Good knowledge of general practice and primary/community care
* Strong IT skills with familiarity with SystemOne and Microsoft Office
* Understanding of general practice contracting requirements and the Quality and Outcomes Framework
* Experience in leadership
* Relevant specialist skills (e.g., joint injections/minor surgery)
