The Whalley Learning Disability Inpatient Service is looking for a Staff Nurse to join our team. The post holder will work in collaboration with the Clinical Leaders, the Ward Manager, and other team members within the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will work a flexible shift pattern including weekend working, providing day to day direct care.
The post holder will ensure the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based, compassionate, person‑centred care and ensure that the care delivered is in a safe environment.
The post holder will contribute to and participate in the on‑going support of patients and their carers.
Responsibilities
* To deliver prescribed care to a defined group of patients within an agreed framework.
* To plan and implement a structured approach to nursing care which takes account of service user choice.
* To accurately observe service users in order to assess needs and evaluate progress.
* To promote an environment for effective practice, complying with all health and safety requirements.
* To manage and supervise junior health care staff within the team.
* To ensure that the needs of people with learning disabilities including their physical and mental health care needs as well as spiritual needs (holistic), are effectively assessed and managed through the care planning process involving other specialists as appropriate.
* To maintain knowledge and follow all relevant trust policies and procedures.
* To participate in the appraisal process, identifying personal training needs relevant to the specialist area.
* To exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* To actively engage and seek clinical and managerial supervision to support your practice.
* To work within a Positive Behavioural Framework.
