Role Purpose
To support the development of content and strategy and to research, develop and review high-scoring answers to produce winning bids as part of a successful proposals team. The successful candidate will join a close-knit, highly motivated, and supportive team who are responsible for working on over £5bn worth of tenders annually.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate for this job should be able to write effective, concise, and compelling content and to be able to work to set deadlines. A professional individual, with both public sector framework and private sector bid writing experience – is essential. The individual's commitment to delivering a high-quality service will drive best practice and continuous improvements into the tender process.
The successful candidate will work closely with bid managers, directors, subject matter experts and proposal designers to create high-impact submissions that clearly respond to our clients' needs.
They will be responsible for ensuring our written responses are bespoke and score highly against marking criteria. They will be confident to mentor others in writing and collaborate with colleagues to support the team's overall development and learning. A portion of the role will also involve contributing to our Bid Asset Library ‘The Hive'.
Good communication skills are fundamental, as well as the ability to build relationships with people both in person and over Teams. You must be equally comfortable liaising with site-based personnel and directors at head office and a confident, friendly personality is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide support to subject matter experts to write engaging and technically correct content for tenders and PQQs
2. Attend start-up meetings with production team to agree strategy, content, and actions
3. Work with bid managers, directors, or project managers to assign responsibilities for technical responses
4. Provide written content before tenders arrive
5. Dissect questions and produce answer plans to maximise relevant information extracted from subject matter experts
6. Lead answer planning workshops
7. Ensure a consistently high standard of content is available on the bid asset library, working with others, to ensure it is being regularly maintained and updated
8. Review, edit and write material for case studies, project profiles and CVs
9. Build trust and credibility with stakeholders from across the business
10. Support your colleagues in the proposals team at critical deadline
11. Support others to peer review content
12. Help others grow and develop, carrying out mentoring and support
13. Support our early careers programmes to work with graduates
14. Lead or support in the induction of new team members and carry out training
15. Input and lead presentations, team meetings and away days
Essential Skills and Experience
16. Experience from within the Construction Industry; and industry specific knowledge of Bid Writer roles and responsibilities within the construction market
17. Experience of public sector bids is essential with private sector bid experience being beneficial

22. High level of working knowledge of MS Word including working with templates

25. Must be able to take full accountability for their role, judgements and decisions

27. A knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given
Qualifications
28. APMP qualified or an openness to join our corporate programme to become qualified
29. Preferably qualified to degree level or similar in a relevant field
