HGV Indirect Buyer
Location: Dorking, Surrey
Salary: Up to £45,000

A well-established HGV focused engineering business is looking to recruit a HGV Indirect Buyer to join its purchasing team in Dorking.
This is a great opportunity for a purchasing professional with experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment who enjoys supplier management, cost reduction, purchase order control, and working closely with internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing indirect procurement, developing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, and helping maintain an efficient and cost-effective supply base across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities for a HGV Indirect Buyer
Manage the purchasing of indirect materials, consumables, maintenance parts, and services
Develop, review, and negotiate supplier agreements, pricing, and commercial terms
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments
Process and expedite purchase orders
Check and manage purchasing requisitions on a daily basis
Support supplier consolidation and supplier performance improvement activity
Help drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and service levels
Maintain accurate purchasing data and records within SAP
Manage rescheduling activity and expedite overdue orders where required
Resolve supplier issues including invoice queries, returns, credits, and non-conformances
Arrange samples and first-off approvals where needed
Support continuous improvement across the purchasing functionCandidate Requirements for a HGV Indirect Buyer
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Coordinator, Procurement Specialist, or Indirect Buyer role
Purchasing experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
Strong administration and organisational skills
Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier relationships
Good understanding of procurement processes, purchasing procedures, and cost control
Strong IT skills, including SAP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Ability to prioritise workloads, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
Knowledge of MRP or Kanban would be beneficialDesirable Keywords / Experience
