Now in its 10th Year, the BA Performance degree course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is the only 3-year vocational training course for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students who aspire to become actors and makers of theatre and film. As an inclusive environment, we aim to provide BSL-English interpreters in all classes and to provide access to other Conservatoire-related material and events.
We are: Looking for an experienced interpreter and coordinator to join this exciting programme. Under the direction of the Head of Programme and in consultation with the Lecturer in BSL, you will engage, assign, and timetable an appropriate and effective team of communication professionals.
You will: Work within a defined budget, balancing communication needs and cost effectiveness. You will support other departments across the RCS to coordinate the engagement of interpreters for other teaching and events as required.
You should: Be a fluent BSL user (Level 6 or equivalent) with working knowledge, sensitivity and respect of the deaf community and culture, including an understanding of the issues and challenges facing deaf students. With demonstrable experience of coordinating and scheduling interpreting services.
The RCS continues to foster a culture that welcomes and supports new voices, balances the pursuit of excellence with individuality and experimentation, and champions all forms of a diverse performance community so that students and graduates can fulfil their potential as artists and creative citizens.
