You’ll get all the benefits of being employed by us, while working on a variety of projects for our clients. Joining Waterman Aspen as an Ecologist will see you as a key member of the Water and Environment team, with responsibilities including:
* Conducting and coordinating protected species surveys (e.g., bats, great crested newts, badgers), invasive species surveys, and being certified in River Morphology Surveys in the UK.
* Applying your knowledge of UK Habitat Classification and Condition surveys, with strong botany skills.
* Utilizing advanced survey techniques such as camera trapping, emergence surveys, and acoustic monitoring.
* Producing clear ecological reports compliant with UK and EU regulations.
* Coordinating field surveys, managing survey teams, and ensuring high-quality fieldwork within deadlines.
* Identifying protected and invasive species across habitats.
* Ensuring compliance with UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
* Adhering to health and safety protocols during fieldwork.
* Using GIS software for habitat mapping and data analysis.
* Possessing relevant protected species licenses; membership of professional bodies like CIEEM or working towards chartership is advantageous.
* Developing invasive species management plans and analyzing habitat data.
* Liaising with stakeholders to ensure project compliance and success.
* Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in various UK locations under environmental challenges.
Experience required includes ecological surveys, report writing, species identification, legislative knowledge, GIS skills, and stakeholder liaison.
