You possess strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to tight schedules. You have accounts receivable experience within a large, multi-functional organization and demonstrate a high level of numeracy and proficiency with spreadsheets. What the job involves As a Debt Recovery Assistant, you are responsible for assisting the Debt Recovery Officer in collecting outstanding debts for the Council, focusing on Local Taxation, Housing Benefits Overpayments, and Sundry Debt Recovery. Your duties include controlling and reconciling systems, providing assistance and training, pursuing debt recovery as per agreed procedures, managing customer inquiries, working with external partner debt collection agencies, and managing direct debits. You will maintain a user manual, and you are expected to perform these tasks with minimal supervision while adhering to high standards of conduct and ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
