At Sweet Project Holdings Limited (SPHL), we work in the data, defence, and energy sectors. We are a comprehensive design, construction, and engineering provider, offering services spanning site acquisition, architecture, refurbishment, and client occupancy. Sweet Projects is a general contracting business drawing on over forty years of specialised industry experience to provide excellent service, sustain long‑term partnerships, and achieve the highest quality outcomes for key clients.

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the General Works Team in Filton, Bristol, working on high‑quality, bespoke refurbishments, installations and new‑build sites in the defence sector.


Experience Required

* Good working knowledge of principal construction contracts, current construction law, and dispute resolution.
* Commercially oriented, qualified individual with experience of commercial responsibility on various procurement types and project values.
* Successfully delivering commercial strategies and processes across projects, articulating outcomes.
* Strong understanding of procurement practices and subcontract forms.
* Proficient in cost/value process and reporting.
* Practical experience in planning, organisation, resource management, and commercial management.
* Proven ability to understand and meet objectives, ensuring successful execution of projects.


Qualifications

* HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying is desirable.
* Membership with professional bodies such as MCIOB and/or MRICS (or equivalent) preferred.

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the commercial management and administration of assigned works, optimising profitability through efficient project oversight and commercial reporting. The role includes pre‑contract work, strategy formulation, and ensuring compliance with quality, health and safety, and environmental procedures.


Key Responsibilities

* Own commercial and contractual administration on all projects.
* Ensure compliance with Group Operating Procedures.
* Represent business interests and meet client expectations.
* Collaborate with project leadership and site management to exceed objectives for turnover, cash, and profitability.
* Maintain robust commercial reporting and forecasting.
* Recover full financial entitlements and resolve profitability‑impacting issues.
* Implement procurement strategy, administer payments, and manage subcontracts.
* Improve department processes and procedures.
* Attend pre‑contract meetings to clarify scope and ensure compliance.
* Identify risks and implement effective mitigation.
* Protect company interests under the Commercial Manager’s leadership.
* Manage project design to maximize return, quality, timing, and safety.
* Promote positive attitudes and behaviours aligned with core values.
* Ensure accurate, timely reporting and contract, cost, quality and time targets are met.
* Submit payment applications promptly and ensure fair subcontractor payments.
* Manage commercial documents in accordance with data storage and legal requirements.
* Supervise, mentor and support staff development and safety competency.
* Review team productivity weekly.
* Partner with delivery manager to meet distribution goals and support operations customer relationships.
* Maintain commercial reports for contract success.

The duties listed are not exhaustive and may be varied as the company’s needs change. The post holder may be required to work at any Sweet Projects location.
