As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Pastoral Support Assistant to join our close-knit team at Syon Manor College School, part of Options Autism. Do you have a passion for helping young people thrive — both emotionally and academically? We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing, personal growth, and learning journey. About the Role As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you’ll help create that environment — providing care, guidance, and encouragement that helps each learner overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. No two days are the same in this rewarding role. You’ll work closely with teachers and tutors to support pupils in the classroom, deliver tailored interventions, and promote positive relationships and behaviour. With your patience, empathy, and commitment, you’ll make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs, including those with autism and complex behaviours. What you’ll be doing: Supporting teachers to deliver high-quality, inclusive learning experiences Working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils engage with the curriculum and build confidence Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development Helping to create a safe, respectful, and stimulating learning environment Assisting with classroom organisation and resources to support effective teaching What we’re looking for: Experience working with young people with autism and/or challenging behaviour A caring, patient, and resilient approach The ability to build trusting relationships and promote independence A team player who’s committed to creating positive outcomes for every learner About Us Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications. For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
