Financial Planning & Analytics Analyst

As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success, we are seeking a dynamic Financial Planning & Analytics Analyst to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.
About the Role:
The Financial Planning & Analytics Analyst supports the Finance, Buying, Loss Prevention and Floor Planning teams in safeguarding and improving the profitability of the company. The role is responsible for analysing actual vs budgeted margin, pricing & promotional activity, cost increases, markdown activity, stock adjustments and store performance though optimisation initiatives. Through detailed data analysis and cross-functional collaboration, the Financial Planning & Analytics Analyst ensures that commercial decisions translate into sustainable, profitable outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Reporting
1. Review pricing and trading reports daily, identifying and resolving discrepancies while analysing key metrics to produce regular performance insights.
2. Collect, analyse and interpret data from multiple sources, identifying trends and conducting root cause analysis to support decision-making and inform senior management.
Retail Prices & Promotional Activity
3. Manage end-to-end retail pricing and promotional activity, including setup, validation, communication and post-implementation review, ensuring alignment with margin targets.
4. Maintain pricing files and margin rules, monitoring profitability and collaborating with Buying and Marketing teams on promotional planning.
Purchase Order Analysis
5. Review purchase orders to ensure compliance with margin targets, providing analysis and highlighting exceptions for review or approval.
6. Monitor supplier trends and identify risks relating to cost changes and margin performance.
Store Optimisation Initiatives
7. Analyse store and department performance to identify opportunities for improved profitability, recommending bay changes and optimised product ranges.
8. Manage product exit strategies, stock clearance plans and validate stock levels for concept stores to prevent overstocking.
Support
9. Provide analytical support across projects and data requests, ensuring data accuracy, maintaining documentation and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and tools.
Business Reporting & Visualisation
10. Develop and enhance dashboards and reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency and alignment with business objectives while increasing automation of recurring reporting.
Collaboration
11. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications & Experience
15. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 2+ years’ experience in analytics, finance or a similar area.
16. Experience working collaboratively and handling large data sets, with a proactive and structured approach to problem solving.

Position: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:45am – 17:30pm.
