Overview
Legal Officer / Senior Legal Officer (Career Graded) at WMJobs. This role supports development with structured guidance and opportunities to progress toward qualification as a solicitor or legal executive. As you develop, you will handle more complex work and may have opportunities to apply for solicitor roles within the team.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert legal advice and support to the Council to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Undertake legal and administrative tasks related to legal cases involving the Council.
* Deal with the public and manage multiple matters, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
* Experience of dealing with the public.
* Working knowledge of the law and practice relating to housing, licensing, landlord and tenant, contract law and other contentious areas of law.
* CILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice (or willingness to work towards) or a qualifying Law Degree.
* Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.
* High attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
* Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive or confidential information.
