Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales. This role is at Cygnet Taunton, Somerset, TA3 7BQ. The hospital is set in a rural countryside setting with great grounds and landscapes, it is peaceful and very scenic. Not far from the historic market town of Taunton which has shops, entertainment and historic buildings, with good transport network. We are looking for the right person to join us for this new role, Band 7 equivalent pay of £53,244.
Your Role
Service Line: Cygnet employs a small but growing number of physiotherapists, working nationally within specialist service lines of Neuro Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Specialist Learning Disability Day Services, Complex Neuro Care and Rehabilitation in social care settings. This new post is within the Neurocognitive healthcare service based at Cygnet Hospital Taunton. The service will be provided within a 15 bedded ward area of the hospital site. It is a full‑time post that can be worked with some flexibility, as long as the needs of patients are met. The post involves service development to establish the new service and suitable interdisciplinary working styles. You will be involved in long‑term patient care for adults with complex cognitive and neurological conditions, alongside psychiatric sequelae, in a safe, structured and therapeutic environment with an interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide clinical assessment and intervention for adults with complex cognitive and neurological conditions.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver patient‑centred care.
* Support service development, including establishing clinical pathways and protocols.
* Provide clinical supervision and support to team members and physiotherapy students.
* Engage in continuing professional development, CPD and training opportunities.
Therapy Directorate
Physiotherapy works closely with occupational therapy and other allied health professionals under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors. Interdisciplinary working and support are a crucial part of team working within these niche specialist services. Every service line has lead therapists helping to shape and develop clinical practice and to improve quality of service provision and outcomes for our service users. Clinicians receive time for CPD, clinical supervision and participation in service development activities.
