Junior Specialist Doctor Higher (JSDH) – ST3 level
The role is located within the Department of Urology at Sandwell & City Hospitals, Birmingham and is expected to commence on 8 June 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, with a fixed‑term contract until 2 February 2027.

Qualifications and Experience
* Completed core training in medicine with at least 12 months of postgraduate experience in urology
* Must hold the MRCS qualification and be fully registered with the GMC
* Preferred: some specialist training experience, though not formally recognised by the Postgraduate Dean
* Opportunity to work alongside trainees and gain comparable training experience
Department Overview
The urology department comprises nine consultant urologists, six middle grade registrars, one junior specialist doctor (lower), and four Foundation Year 1 trainees, supported by two Advanced Nurse Practitioners, three McMillan Nurse Specialists and two nurse specialists.
Facilities and Services
* Full range of diagnostic facilities including multi‑parametric MRI, PET scanning, nuclear medicine imaging and trans‑perineal prostate biopsies
* General urology care for adults and children
* Outpatient clinics: stone clinics, erectile dysfunction, paediatric urology and other specialist clinics
* Day‑case procedures and day‑case surgery, with on‑site lithotripter and state‑of‑the‑art Moses laser technology for endoscopic stone management
* Inpatient facilities for more complex cases, with nephrectomy services at Russell Hall Hospital and pelvic surgery referred to the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital
* Close collaboration with the oncology team at the University Hospitals, Birmingham
