RSW client is a small, dynamic limited company with full design, technology, and manufacturing capabilities within the electronic industry. Their Purchasing Department plays a critical role in keeping operations running smoothly. They have a close-knit team, and are looking for someone who is hands-on, adaptable, and ready to contribute across multiple areas of the business.
Role Overview
A proactive and detail-oriented Temporary Buyer to support a busy Purchasing team. This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively, and making a tangible impact.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Review daily buy lists, ensuring RFQs are issued, purchase quotes reviewed, and orders placed promptly
* Identify and escalate critical or problem parts, especially for new product launches
* Manage and place orders in line with demand, supporting team members where needed
* Investigate and develop long-term solutions for material supply issues
* Monitor and manage the Open PO report (expediting and delaying orders as required)
* Analyse market trends to support purchasing decisions
* Handle ad hoc purchasing requests via the purchasing inbox
* Support costing activities, including updating pricing when received
* Assist Sales & Logistics teams, including shipping support when required
* Negotiate pricing agreements and supplier stock-holding arrangements
* Monitor component obsolescence and arrange samples for testing where needed
* Conduct supplier meetings and contribute to supplier performance reporting
* Produce KPI reports
Additional Information
* Currently transitioning to a new ERP system, so this role will involve working across two systems simultaneously
* Strong ERP/MRP system experience is essential
Skills & Experience
* 2–3 years’ experience in a purchasing or buying role
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
* A proactive, “can-do” attitude with a willingness to support different areas of the business
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Working Hours
Currently trialling a 4-day working week, with compressed hours:
* Start time: between 7:00am – 8:00am
* Finish time: between 5:00pm – 6:00pm
* 30-minute lunch break
* Flexible start/finish
* Temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate
