An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 7 CAMHS Practitioner within our East CYPMHS Service. We support young people and families with moderate to severe mental health needs across East Hertfordshire.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for a caseload of complex assessment, treatment and consultation work with children, adolescents and their families/carers and caring networks for behavioural, emotional, attachment, trauma, psychological or mental health issues.
* Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) providing high‑quality mental health services to children and young people.
* Work sensitively and appropriately for families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds, including single parents, same‑sex couples, extended families, foster carers and people with mental health difficulties.
* Undertake risk assessment and risk management for all children and adolescents, considering protective and risk factors within significant relationships.
* Act as care coordinator where appropriate, ensuring provision of a care plan, initiating, planning and reviewing the client’s care, coordinating others’ work, communicating effectively with the child, carer or professional, and monitoring multidisciplinary interventions.
* Maintain a personal and professional profile in accordance with Post‑Registration Educational Practice (PREP) and the Trust’s standards.
* Operate in line with the principles and practice of CYP‑IAPT, delivering evidence‑based interventions within the child/young person’s context.
* Contribute to and develop skills in Clinical Governance and keep up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies relevant to the client group and mental health.
* Act as a role model in the delivery of care and uphold public confidence.
* Evaluate and adjust practices based on feedback.
* Work jointly with co‑workers from the MDT as appropriate.
* Develop, implement and manage specialised interventions to meet care plan objectives and goals.
* Promote and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the service and with external agencies and service areas.
* Enhance public relations by presenting a positive image of service users, the service and the Trust.

Qualifications (Required)
* Social Worker with SWE registration OR Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
* Specialist training in an appropriate area and knowledge of CAPA and CYP‑IAPT.
* Further training or qualifications in the relevant area of practice.
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
* Appropriate UK professional registration.
Desirable Qualifications
* Training in sensory assessment and integration.
* Post‑qualification experience in a CYPMHS team or related area.
* Experience working with moderate to severe mental health problems and knowledge of a range of clinical interventions with children/adolescents and their carers/families.
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working and inter‑agency collaboration.
* Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health and an understanding of a range of theoretical approaches, especially regarding trauma and attachment.
* Ability to provide supervision, appraisal, preceptorship/practice education, staff support and teaching/training.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice with children and adolescents.
* Knowledge of child protection procedures.
