The Sunflower Federation
Teacher
Reports to: Phase leader, Deputy Head teacher, Headteacher
Salary Range: MPS or UPS Fringe, SEN 1 or 2
Hours: Teachers’ Pay and Conditions
The Sunflower Federation was established in May 2017 and is formed of two schools namely Breakspeare and Meadow Wood. The Federation is governed by one governing board (one responsible body). The federated governing board manages all accountabilities and responsibilities for both school sites.
Purpose of the job
1. To carry out the professional duties of a teacher adhering closely to the Professional Teachers’ Standards and as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document
2. Main Responsibilities
3. To ensure the effective learning and teaching of pupils for whom the post holder has responsibilities.
4. Strategic Direction and Development of the Sunflower Federation
5. Contribute to and support the overall vision, aims and ethos of the federation
6. Contribute to the school development plans and self-assessment
7. Lead by example
8. Support the development of our provision(s) for all pupils up to young adulthood
9. Take ownership of your own continued professional development
10. Seek to advance your skills for the benefit of the school and your own personal goals
11. Abide by the federation's Code of Conduct
12. Knowledge and Understanding of How to keep children safe, with a thorough understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education
13. Characteristics of effective practice and strategies for raising pupils’ achievement
14. How to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and good behaviour through effective management and leadership
15. How to seek and use national, local and school data, OFSTED evidence and research findings in your planning and those of the whole school to set the context
16. Understand target setting with national benchmarking and systems as they are implemented by the Government of the day

Learning and Teaching
18. To undertake a full teaching commitment within a class and across the key stages as required.
19. To plan, prepare and deliver lessons for pupils’ differentiated learning to a high standard, within the school’s planning framework using a variety of approaches and strategies.
20. To organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive and safe learning environment.
21. To work with colleagues to devise and implement individual programmes with the aim of raising individual attainment /achievement
22. To maintain good order and discipline and a positive approach to the management of behaviour in keeping with the ethos promoted in the schools policy on positive behaviour.
23. To ensure that positive, trusting and supportive working relationships between pupils and colleagues are maintained.
24. To manage, motivate, develop and support staff with the aim of effective delivery of the curriculum to pupils.
25. To maintain an organised classroom environment suitable to the learning needs of the pupils and to contribute to display across the school with reference to the display policy.
26. To maintain and develop appropriate and adequate resources for teaching: Manage, monitor and review the range, quality, quantity and use all available resources in order to improve pupils' achievements, ensure efficiency and secure value for money for those you teach.
27. To ensure the health and safety of staff and pupils in accordance with school practice and policy.
