Family Support Worker – Birmingham Children’s Trust Location: Birmingham Contract: Full-time, Permanent Grade: GR3 Contact: john.deane@servicecare.org.uk About the Role Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Family Support Worker to join their passionate and dedicated team, helping to make Birmingham “the greatest city to grow up in.” In this vital role, you’ll provide practical and emotional support to children, young people, and their families to help them overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve positive outcomes. Working within the Right Help, Right Time framework, you’ll play a key part in delivering early help services that make a real difference to families across the city. Key Responsibilities Work directly with children, young people, and families to deliver tailored support plans that promote safety, stability, and wellbeing. Build trusting relationships and deliver evidence-based interventions that address a range of issues such as parenting, school attendance, behaviour, and family conflict. Complete assessments and contribute to Early Help Plans, ensuring all actions are clearly recorded and reviewed. Coordinate and attend multi-agency meetings, sharing relevant information to support joined-up working. Support families to engage with community resources and specialist services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the Trust’s database systems. Work collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, schools, health professionals, and other partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for children. Participate in supervision, team meetings, and training to continually develop skills and knowledge. Uphold safeguarding principles at all times, ensuring concerns are appropriately escalated. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Health and Social Care, Early Years, or Youth Work. Experience supporting children, young people, and families in a social care, education, or community setting. A practical understanding of safeguarding and early help processes. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships. Good organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records.
