Software Developer (Full-Stack) Placement (13 months) at Airbus Defence and Space. Start date: 20 July 2026. Location: Portsmouth. Employment type: Internship. Duration: 13 months. Experience level: Student.
What you will be doing
Within this Internship, we’ll provide training and the latest tools for you to experience the full-stack of software development in an Agile environment. You’ll work on websites, applications, servers, and databases, and apply design patterns and your own contribution to our products. Activities may include:
* Given documentation to learn and understand the code base you will be working on
* Designing, developing, documenting and testing code you have written
* Participation within a multi-developer Agile team
* Researching and utilizing cutting-edge technologies
* Pair programming with an experienced developer
* Experiencing the full-stack of software development opportunities as a valued team member
A successful candidate will work as part of a team, collaborating with stakeholders and multidisciplinary colleagues within the Space industry to help create and maintain websites, applications and databases in line with Agile methodology.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a team to deliver software solutions in an Agile environment
* Engage in software development lifecycle activities including design, implementation, and testing
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. It is mandatory to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
* Your application should include a CV and a Cover Letter outlining motivation and suitability
* Studying towards a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
* Understanding of Object-Oriented Principles
* Good problem solving skills
* Solid foundation in C# or Java
* Interest in programming and technology
* Knowledge of software architecture and design patterns
Security clearance
You will be subject to a BPSS check. You may also need UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
