Job Overview
The post holder is responsible for providing direct care in an adolescent ward setting. The role involves supporting young people in all aspects of their care, including daily living needs as outlined in the individualised care plans, and reporting any relevant changes in the young person’s condition to qualified staff.
Responsibilities
* Provide person‑centred care to young people with mental health needs, including depression, psychosis and suicidal ideation.
* Assist with daily routine and care as directed by care plans.
* Observe and engage therapeutically with young people, including 1:1 observations and alternative verbal communication methods.
* Support qualified staff to uphold the highest standards of care, including a trauma‑informed approach.
* Ensure safeguarding principles are understood and applied in everyday practice.
* Participate in training on the CAMHS therapeutic approach, neurodivergent care, DBT skills and eating disorders.
Qualifications & Experience
* Prior experience working with adolescents in a mental health setting.
* Experience working with people with autism is preferable.
* Ability to work in stressful situations and problem‑solve independently.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles.
Additional Requirements
* Current COVID‑19 vaccinations (both doses) are required in accordance with regulatory guidance.
