Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Production Launch Mechanical Engineer to join BAE Systems Australia at Edinburgh Parks. This role involves leading mechanical engineering activities in production launch, developing manufacturing processes, and transitioning new products from design to full-rate production within the Advanced Manufacturing business.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading the development of mechanical manufacturing processes, including machining, fitting, surface treatments, and inspection strategies for new and existing products undergoing rate changes.
2. Conceptualizing manufacturing solutions and providing cost estimates for new product bids as the Mechanical SME.
3. Reviewing technical data packs for completeness, configuration, and manufacturability, and performing technical reviews with SME input as needed.
4. Applying engineering governance to process design, tools, and documentation to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with company standards.
5. Collaborating with stakeholders, maintaining positive relationships, and providing technical advice on production mechanical tasks.
6. Sharing best practices and continuously improving mechanical engineering processes.
About You:
* Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with relevant experience and eligibility for Chartered status with Engineers Australia.
* Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within design or manufacturing environments.
* Knowledge of design for manufacture and coordination of complex production activities.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and problem-solving mindset.
