We are seeking an experienced midwife to join our multidisciplinary team delivering high quality intrapartum care within NHS Tayside. Based primarily in labour ward this is a leadership position that combines clinical insight with a strong emphasis on managerial and non-clinical responsibilities aligned to the role of SCM.
You will provide clinical leadership to the midwifery team as part of a team of SCM to ensure safe and effective care is delivered to every woman, every time. As a visible and compassionate clinical leader, you will be an exemplar of person-centred care demonstrating mutual respect for women, families and colleagues who promotes a culture of professional respect and civility.
In your role, you will be responsible for managing and developing the performance of a small team situated within the labour ward setting but may at times be required to provide care and support in other clinical areas across Tayside.
In addition to the clinical elements aligned to SCM in labour suite there is an expectation within this role to support managerial tasks within the area and across the department including tasks related to Human Resource Management, Budgets, Quality assurance and service improvement.
This post will be aligned with to these tasks as a key priority and work focus. The postholder will be expected to support these tasks for the majority of their working hours with agreement of regular clinical working of at least 46 hrs hours per roster period to meet contractual obligations in relation to working hours. Shift patterns can be discussed and a flexible approach aligned to service need is essential with most shifts being worked in hours Mon to Fri with the exception of the rostered clinical shift which may at times require unsocial hours of work including night duty, weekends and public holidays.
