Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Gas and Heating Engineer to join our Gas and Heating Maintenance team. In this role, you will deliver planned and preventative maintenance, fault-finding, and repair work across commercial heating systems, supporting social housing providers and local authorities. Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault diagnosis, and basic electrical fault-finding across commercial heating systems within social housing and local authority properties
* Complete repairs and replacements on pumps, valves, radiators, and associated components, including power flushing where required
* Ensure all work is completed in line with statutory compliance requirements, including issuing gas safety certificates and related documentation
* Maintain safe, clean, and organised plant rooms, manage van stock effectively, and deliver a consistently high standard of service
* Communicate professionally with residents, clients, and local authority representatives, providing updates on works and service delivery
* Support site surveys, quotations, and engineer reports, and take part in the out-of-hours call-out rota for emergency repairs
* Keep up to date with gas safety legislation, industry standards, and best practice
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Domestic and Commercial ACS qualifications including COCN1, CCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, TPCP1/TPCP1A and CENWAT, plus current Gas Safe registration
* At least 2 years’ industry experience in commercial gas and heating maintenance, ideally within social housing or local authority environments
* Strong understanding of compliance requirements for communal and commercial heating systems
* Strong communication and customer service skills when working with residents and clients
* Ability to pass a DBS check and hold a full UK driving licence
Desirable:
* Experience maintaining accurate job records and compliance documentation, with previous use of job management systems such as BigChange or Joblogic/Jobwatch
* Additional technical qualifications or experience such as renewable energy systems, Unvented Hot Water, Water Regulations, Asbestos Awareness, or NVQ Level 3 equivalent
