About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and caring Laundry Assistant to join our dedicated team at our care home in Hartlepool. As part of the housekeeping team, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents have clean, well-maintained clothing, bedding, and linen, contributing directly to their comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Purpose of the Role
To take responsibility for the effective operation of the laundry service within the home
To ensure all residents' clothing and household linen are cleaned, dried, and returned promptly
To maintain residents' privacy, dignity, and respect for their personal belongings
To ensure a high standard of cleanliness and infection control within the laundry area
To carry out all duties in accordance with the home's policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
To follow GSCC Codes of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers
Duties of a Laundry Assistant
As a Laundry Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Washing, drying, ironing, and folding residents' clothing, bedding, and household linen
Sorting laundry correctly and ensuring items are clearly labelled and returned to the correct residents
Operating laundry equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any faults to the Manager
Maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control within the laundry area
Using laundry products correctly and economically, minimising waste
Safely handling soiled laundry in line with infection-control procedures
Ensuring laundry areas are kept clean, tidy, and organised at all times
Taking responsibility for Health & Safety and reporting potential hazards promptly
Ensuring all cleaning and laundry products are stored and used safely in accordance with COSHH regulations
Reading and signing relevant communication logs and following instructions as required
Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding service users, colleagues, and company information
Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and development activities, both on and off site
Reporting concerns or unusual situations to management promptly
Remaining flexible and supporting the wider team by undertaking other duties where necessary to benefit service users
