Ellele Health is a start‑up biotechnology company based in Granta Park, Cambridge, exploring innovative approaches to detect and manage gynaecological disease. Ellele has developed a novel medical device to collect vaginal mucus‑based biospecimens. The device has been evaluated in clinical studies and has been used to create a unique biorepository, a valuable source of clinical material for fundamental research, method/technology development and the creation of diagnostic assays. Currently, our diagnostic development programmes focus on the detection of endometrial and ovarian cancer, aiming to bring these diagnostics into primary care to reduce waiting times and minimise invasive investigations.
Role Summary
The Senior Research Scientist will lead laboratory processes and development, focusing on molecular biology and Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS). The role requires a proven track record of PCR and NGS, along with experience in biomarker discovery, assay optimisation and working with clinical samples. An honours degree in biological or biomedical sciences, biochemistry or equivalent is required; an MSc/PhD or extensive relevant laboratory experience is preferred. The scientist will optimise laboratory processes, design and implement research programmes, and contribute to commercial aspects such as technology scoping, provider relations and documented submissions to notified bodies.
