This is an exciting new B30 role in the UK Sales Strategy and Enablement Team. You will focus on a range of go-to-market activities to support the delivery of the UK Merchant Coverage Strategy. The primary objective will be to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of UK Sales to sign more named strategic prospects. What you will do: - Provide support signing merchants across top industry verticals for American Express in the UK including Automotive, Insurance, Self-Storage, Transit, Tourist Attractions, Golf, Destination Restaurants, EV Charging, Healthcare, Utilities, Government and Events. - Enhance the existing value presentations with merchant facing industry insights by partnering with the Business Insights team, the Planning and Capabilities team and external data sources. - Analyse and refine external data to support the American Express value proposition, based on different industries. Present the data in a digestible way for internal and external partners to understand. - Develop a thorough understanding of the problems and challenges merchants are facing in the industry verticals. They will then map these to solutions American Express is able to provide through merchant acceptance. - Focus on accelerating the contract strategy with prospects, but at an account and industry level. They will do this by contact mapping for prospects to identify key decision makers and influencers. They will identify relevant trade bodies, associations, or events to potentially partner with or sponsor. They will manage the relationship with third parties to accelerate Amex acceptance in that sector. - Monitor the acquisition pipeline to ensure that prospects in key industries are being moved through the pipeline. Partnering with the Sales Enablement team to ensure sales managers are actively working all assigned opportunities, report on the progress of prospects through the pipeline and ensure momentum is being maintained. Where necessary, you will work with the sales enablement team to reallocate prospects. - Provide frequent updates on the progress of key industries to their leader and director, summarising progress and any potentially issues or merchant objections. You will be responsible for working with key stakeholders (e.g. Pricing, Marketing etc) to identify solutions to unlock acceptance in the sector. - Lead industry updates with internal collaborators to drive collaboration i.e. Client Management, B2B, Card Services, Pay With Bank Transfer, Network and the Consultancy teams. - Create high impact, compelling presentations that advocate American Express merchant acceptance. - Build positive relationships with the sales managers to help them progress prospects through the pipeline. Alongside the Sales Manager this individual will be accountable for the progress of key strategic opportunities. What we look for: - Must be a clear, effective, and concise communicator. - Solve sophisticated problems independently. - Be research driven, understanding different industries to identify trends, challenges or opportunities which could be mitigated or address by American Express acceptance. - Identify and verify external data sources, extrapolating the data to be reliably referenced in external customer facing decks. - Manage large amounts of data and presenting it in a digestible format, which allows partners and to easily understand it and make informed decisions. - Strong presentation skills. Able to adjust communication for external and internal collaborators. - Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, the candidate will be expected to operate in a fast-paced business environment and manage a range of tasks. They must have the ability to prioritise and deliver deadlines under pressure. - Be highly motivated and enthusiastic, quick to learn and up for a challenge. - Be confident to speak up and offer alternative points of view and challenge the status quo when necessary. - Be highly consultative in their approach and establish themselves as a trusted colleague and advisor. - Outgoing, curious, and confident. They will need to establish with a broad network of contacts and manage multiple relationships with both external and internal contacts concurrently. - This individual role will be pivotal in the success of UK Acquisition, consequently they will need to be highly collaborative, able to influence key stakeholders and drive blue box results with strong personal accountability and integrity. - Demonstrate a growth mindset, volunteer to take on stretch projects and be open and willing to learn new skills. - Represent Amex with professionalism and credibility in front of external customers. - Have sophisticated PowerPoint and Excel skills. Ability to manipulate and update data in reports & spreadsheets. Produce PowerPoint slides that are visually appealing and clearly communicates the intended message. - Have good attention detail. Must be able to produce high quality output and spot and correct errors and discrepancies. - Good written skills, financial competence and numeracy.
