We are seeking a reliable and skilled individual to join our Design and Technology department as a Design & Technology Technician on a casual basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of practical lessons and support the delivery of an engaging and safe learning environment. You will be essential in supporting in the production of materials and pack for the exam season.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing materials and resources for lessons and student projects
2. Assisting in the development and construction of teaching aids and prototypes
3. Maintaining and monitoring tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring all health and safety standards are met
4. Carrying out first-line maintenance and arranging annual safety inspections (e.g., PAT testing, LEV checks)
5. Supporting the department with administrative tasks including ordering materials and managing inventory
6. Occasionally assisting small groups of students with practical tasks under staff supervision
Person Specification:
7. Good general education with sound literacy and numeracy skills
8. Strong practical ability across a range of materials and tools
9. Good working knowledge of D&T software and equipment
10. Awareness of current Health and Safety legislation
11. Certification for machinery use (or willingness to undertake training)
12. First aid qualification (training provided if required)
This casual role is ideal for someone with flexibility who is able to commit to approximately 15 hours per week until July 2025. Working hours can be discussed and agreed upon with the department based on operational needs. This role could lead to a permanent role in the new academic year 2025/26 for the right candidate.
