About the role
Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; you may opt for as few as 12 hours if that suits your schedule.
Availability windows: we will schedule your contracted hours within these times and provide three weeks’ notice of shift assignments.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. A Shift Leader supports the team to keep the store running smoothly and ensures customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment with variety.
* Take ownership of duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Be there for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave with what they need.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
* Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring a safe workplace.
* Maintain a strong understanding of store performance and assist managers in actions to improve operations.
* Lead from the front and set a great example for your colleagues.
You will be responsible for
* Coordinating the store team for an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
* Supporting colleagues to meet daily priorities and take regular breaks.
* Opening and closing the store, and completing duty cover.
* Being the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries when the manager is absent.
* Keeping the store clean, tidy, and well‑presented.
* Supporting managers with seasonal, community, and charity events.
* Contributing to a great team atmosphere that is inclusive.
* Providing outstanding customer service by listening to customers.
* Keeping the team informed on communications and updates.
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and pursuing improvement.
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to great service.
* Following health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Recognising and celebrating outstanding service within the team.
