Construction Technician
Long Term
The position is for 37 hours per week
£12.50 per hour

The primary purpose of this job role is to;
To provide high quality technician support and service/maintenance to learning programmes within the Construction area in addition to undertaking other associated duties. The post holder will also contribute to course design and team meetings, development of practical work for programmes and the expansion of the area generally. These include:
·Maintaining and repairing all equipment in all workshops and Training Areas;
·Preparing and setting up equipment, tools and resources for practical sessions and demonstrations;
·Assisting lecturing staff during practical sessions and demonstrations;
·Maintaining appropriate stock levels of raw materials, components, tools and equipment;
·Attending and contributing to Department meetings and other meetings as and when required;
·Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the grade of the post, at the initial place of work or at any other College site;
·Maintaining records of accidents;
·Completing and updating risk assessments with the Head of Department and department managers and ensuring that these are up-to-date;
·Support adaptions that are necessary for assessments area within the department.
Qualifications:
·Level 2 Diploma in a Construction related trade or relevant trade experience
Experience:
·Sufficient relevant experience working in the Construction environment.
·Ability to work within different construction trades workshops.
Special Circumstances:
·Attendance at weekend open days
·Technician support for classes up to 2 evenings per week
·Attendance at recruitment and other academy events during the evenings
·Ability to travel between sites, if necessary
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
·Current Health & Safety knowledge related to the Construction Industry
·Good interpersonal, administrative and communication skills
·Organised and able to meet deadlines
·Ability to cultivate good working relationships with colleagues and students
·Knowledge of computer systems
