Support Worker - Supported Living - Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviours
Shifts: Full time
Alternate weekends availability essential
12 hour shifts

Main function of the job
To maintain support skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as may from time to time be required to maintain that standard of practice. To provide support in accordance with current best practice, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, and relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time.
Location
Gloucester Sites managed by Sky Vigil Care Ltd but you may be relocated within the UK at the discretion of the company with 4 weeks’ notice.
Main duties (not in any order of priority)
* Management of the organisation
* Develop effective working relationships with the other employees within the service.
* Support an open, positive and inclusive working culture.
* Participate in the development of The Service’s policies.
* Participate in evaluation of The Service against agreed organisational goals and business and quality objectives
* Work to establish effective employer-employee relationships.
* Minimise legal risks
* Participate in the maintenance of The Service’s management information systems
* Assist in the formulation and implementation of support policies and procedures.
* Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the standards required by legislation related to the registration of The Service.
* Act within The Service’s budget based on The Service’s objectives and within the projected revenue
* Work in a cost-effective manner.
* Be involved in the implementation and maintenance of The Service’s quality assurance program.
* Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the support standards and support service provision.
* Systematically solve day-to-day problematic issues which arise.
* Management of support Services: Assist in the development of the philosophy, goals and objectives for the support practice.
* Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of support implementation and delivery
* Implement action to meet and maintain support standards.
Other responsibilities
* Ensure Service User rights are protected.
* Encourage a model of self-care and Service User rehabilitation
* Record relevant activities in Care Plans.
* Evaluate standards of support competence.
* Work in a person-centered manner.
* To understand the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in order to provide support or care in a way that recognises the capacity of the Service User.
* Professional Long Term Support & Leadership: Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of support.
* Encourage health promotion within support strategies.
* Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
* Promote a positive image for residency and employment within The Service.
* Management of Human Resources: Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees.
* Support the implementation of The Service’s policies and procedures.
* Support the effective resolution of team conflicts.
* Support a work atmosphere which promotes a high quality of work life
* Support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence.
