Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Brick Lane School – London E2 6DY
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience) plus £5,000 Welcome Bonus (two payments: £2,500 after one month and £2,500 after completion of final probation, terms apply)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours (part-time hours may be considered)
Contract: Permanent (term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)
Brick Lane School is part of Outcomes First Group and supports pupils with developmental trauma, neurodiversity, or SEMH needs. You will work within a multidisciplinary clinical team in collaboration with education teams to deliver Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) assessment and intervention in an education setting.
Responsibilities
* Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with full support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Deliver bespoke SaLT assessment and intervention to pupils, collaborating with education teams and other professionals.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Work within the OFG SaLT Ways of Working to guide practice in an education setting and align with professional standards.
* Participate in developing an enhanced SaLT offer by supporting the growth of apprentices, students, and therapy assistants.
* Engage in opportunities for research projects, special interest groups, and a wider SaLT network for training and development.
* Maintain a person-centred, safeguarding-focused approach with pupils actively involved in decisions affecting them.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1-2 years experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting
* Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
* Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience communicating with/working with families and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills across SaLT practice
* Strong relationship-building, analytical, and judgment skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Competent in core SaLT areas with understanding of RCSLT standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, interventions, and ability to formulate support plans
* Understanding of relevant legislation for clinical practice and client groups
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a MDT
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication
* Knowledge of arousal and its relationship to communication
* Full driving license and car access (highly desirable)
