About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teacher to join our specialist team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with complex learning needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs.
You will deliver a highly personalised curriculum tailored to each pupil’s EHCP outcomes, focusing on communication, sensory engagement, life skills, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons for pupils with PMLD.
Develop and implement individual learning plans aligned with EHCP targets.
Use a range of communication approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC).
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and medical professionals.
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress effectively.
Support pupils with personal care where required.
Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are strictly followed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience working with pupils with PMLD or complex SEND needs.
Strong understanding of sensory-based learning approaches.
Knowledge of communication strategies for non-verbal learners.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.
Desirable
Experience in a specialist SEND school or resource base.
Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
