Job Description
Due to an increase in free range pig production and the business's need to further develop this area in the future, a new role of Free Range Business Development Fields Person is required.
We will have an increased free range contract base of 6 breeder farms and 30 finishing farms, increasing our free range production from 2,800 pigs per week to 7,500, with a view to increasing this number further in line with our free range development project.
The dedicated Free Range Fields Person will facilitate and advise on the implementation of best husbandry practices, welfare standards, and adherence to other internal and external assurance standards, as well as ensuring our cost of production model and budgets are met.
This role will also be responsible for locating and assessing potential land opportunities to grow the free-range production volume in line with the free range development plan.
The key objectives of this role include developing relationships with our free range producers to facilitate and advise on best husbandry practices, welfare standards, and compliance with assurance standards.
You will be responsible for locating and assessing potential land opportunities to expand free-range production. During this growth period, you will also support our third-party farmers.
You will ensure the logistics of the free-range supply chain run smoothly, including assisting with transport arrangements, forecasting, and providing statistics for different business models. Additionally, you will ensure that the cost of production is managed effectively in accordance with budgets and key KPIs.
This role involves a split between field-based work and office work. The ideal candidate will be based in the Stradbroke area, have a sound knowledge of practical pig production, a good network of contacts within agriculture, excellent communication skills, a commercial mindset, and the ability to build long-term business relationships.
A full, clean UK driver's license is essential.
